A discovery sprint is a short, focused engagement that happens before any production code is written. Its job is simple: replace assumptions with evidence, so the build is faster, cheaper and aimed at the right target.
Week one: understand
We interview stakeholders and the people who will use the product, review any existing systems and data, and map the current workflow end to end. By Friday we have a shared picture of the problem, the users and the constraints — and usually a list of surprises that would have derailed the build.
Week two: shape and validate
We sketch solutions, choose the strongest direction with you, and turn it into a clickable prototype of the core journey. We test that prototype with real users, refine it, and produce the technical plan to build it.
What you receive
- A clickable prototype of the core user journey, tested with real users.
- A scope document with goals, roles, workflows, integrations and a prioritized feature list.
- A technical plan covering architecture, data model, hosting and security.
- A fixed quote and timeline for the first release.
- A risk register listing the unknowns and how each will be resolved.
Everything from the discovery is yours to keep — even if you decide to build with another team.
Is it worth it?
Discovery typically costs a small fraction of the build, and it regularly saves more than it costs by cutting features nobody needs, catching integration problems early and preventing rework. Just as importantly, it lets you see how a team thinks and communicates before you commit to a larger engagement.
Our Discovery Sprint is fixed at $4,800 for two weeks. Get in touch to book one.
